Overwhelmed facilities, no incentivization, inconvenient systems coupled with a general lack of awareness results in large amounts of waste contamination. Every recycling system is different and consumers are not informed on the dos and don'ts of sustainability. If a pizza box with food residue or an unaccepted plastic (such as styrofoam) is thrown into the recycling bin then that batch (along with the entire neighborhood's waste) is considered contaminated!
Unfortunately, this results in up to 40% of all recycling materials being left at the landfill!

The LOOP Nexus is an innovative solution to these problems! We've created a network that can handle and transport materials from your household to partnered businesses. This is how it works: users will sign up for a plan and make an account with their basic consumption habits and pick their start date. A LOOP driver will stop by on this start date and explain the basics of recycling. The user will coordinate with their driver where they would like to leave their waste for pick-ups. The driver will stop by on the previously decided times and collect the waste. This waste will be brought back to our facility to be sorted. Afterwards the waste will be transported to partnered businesses to be reused, recycled or safely disposed of. Users will be able to see where their waste went and receive a credit for their contribution!
